Many of you who have taken Kimberly’s finger painting workshops have asked for a weekend specifically for experienced finger-painters. This workshop will be a deeper dive into Kimberly’s finger-painting techniques, to help you get to the next level in your finger painting.
In this advanced 2-day or 3-day workshop, students have the choice to paint along with Kimberly as she leads a step by step on how to paint a more detailed finger painting similar to "Golden Fields" (see image of Kimberly's Skagit Valley painting), or you can paint a subject of your own choosing. You’ll learn how to complete a painting, starting from the beginning concept all the way through to the finished creation. Emphasis will be on how to obtain details with different finger painting techniques.
Day 1 will be how to block in beginning shapes of the composition. On Day 1 Kimberly will be painting the step-by-step process - and you can follow along with her from start to finish. Or you can start a painting with your own subject. (Students choose this option if they want all three days of the workshop devoted to completed their own concept on a canvas.)
Days 2 and 3 - Kimberly will be helping you as you work on your own subject. Focus will be about color placement and adding fine details that can be tricky to add just using fingers to apply the paint. If you followed the step-by-step painting on Day 1, the rest of the workshop will be devoted to you completing your own "concept to canvas", with plenty of guidance from Kimberly as she goes from student to student, coaching each one with whatever they are painting.
Students who have taken this Advanced workshop have said that Days 2 and 3 have been so helpful, as they learn how to press on through the obstacles all the way to completion. These skills builds confidence in each student, so they are enabled to go from "concept to canvas" on their own.
Kimberly notes that it typically her three full days to complete a more detailed painting of a larger size, so the optional third day is recommended if you want to paint a larger canvas or paint a more complex composition. After this workshop you will walk away with the confidence to continue creating your own finger paintings!
We’ve limited the advanced workshops to just nine students for maximum individual attention, so this class sells out very quickly. Be sure to sign up right away!
