Bring your drawing tools, watercolors or acrylics, a few pastels and a lot of creative spirit! This one day workshop will be dedicated to having fun making out-of-the-box portraits.
First Joe will review some simple measuring lessons on getting the eyes, nose and mouth in the right place and some anatomy tips for drawing these features too. Then he will show you different ways to create fun, strange, whacky, edgy, emotional, funny, ugly, scary and surreal portraits. It's up to you!
You will use drawing techniques such as blind contour and minimalist line/mass to draw portraits. You will also start drawings with non-objective marks, spontaneous abstract block-in and will use old, bad paintings as under-paintings and then find faces in the abstracts and develop them to a final portrait. Wear old clothes and prepare to get messy! This workshop is designed to have fun, to be creative and to loosen up.
