Discovery! A Very Beginning Drawing Experience

If you think you can’t draw, if you’ve ever said ‘I can’t even draw a stick figure’, if you are totally convinced no one could ever teach you to draw… this is the class for you!  Joe Mac Kechnie will patiently show you, in a cheerful and non-intimidating environment, how fun and easy drawing can be.  Yes, you CAN draw! Drawing Lab 2 ~ Creating Great Compositions and True Proportions

Drawing Lab 2 is the second part of a 2-part series. If you’ve had beginning drawing, and feel like you need to learn more on this topic, you can take this class, even if you haven’t taken James’ Part 1. Focus will be on techniques for making accurate measurements and techniques for transferring that information to your drawing. Additionally, students will learn and understand how to arrange and place all the elements of a given drawing into a cohesive and unified composition - which is much more engaging and compelling for the viewer.

Beginning Portraits in Charcoal, Pastel and Watercolor

A great class for beginners at portraits who want to take their drawing and painting to the next level!
Artist and beloved instructor Joe Mac Kechnie will guide you in your very first portrait. The first two classes will be dedicated to how to draw the portrait using charcoal. You will discover that drawing the portrait is easier and more fun than you previously might have thought. In the last three classes, we will explore painting the portrait using watercolors and pastels.

Drawing Lab 1~ Great Basics for Beginning Drawing

Students rave about this course! Drawing Lab 1 is the first part of a 2-part series to introduce you to drawing and then build on your abilities. Each course, of 4 Monday evenings each, will cover all the basics of Drawing! Discussion, demo and practice will be the method. DL1 will be the "basics” – where you need to start if you are a beginner. You'll be learning, understanding, and practicing with the basic materials, techniques, and concepts that are the foundation of observational drawing.
