Drawing Lab 2: Beyond the Basics w/ James Farrand

“Beyond the Basics” is the second part of a 2-part series. If you’ve had beginning drawing and want to learn more, you can take this class - even if you haven’t taken James’ Drawing Lab 1. You'll get techniques for making accurate measurements and how to transfer that to your drawing. You'll also learn how to make a  composition that is more engaging for the viewer.

Drawing Lab 1: Great Basics for Beginning Drawing
w/ James Farrand

Students rave about this course! Drawing Lab 1 is a great introduction to drawing - where you need to start if you are a beginner. You'll be learning, understanding, and practicing with the basic materials, techniques, and concepts that are the foundation of observational drawing.  We offer DL1 alternating with Drawing Lab 2 - you can take both for a fantastic foundation, or just take what you need.  Each course, of 4 classes each, will cover all the basics of Drawing!

The Drawing Experience Part 1
w/ Joe Mac Kechnie

5 classes / Tuesdays / 10:30-1:30pm
May 8, 15, 22, 29 & June 5

Fall in love with drawing - THE basis for all your future art endeavors. Even if you think you can’t draw a stick figure, instructor and artist Joe Mac Kechnie will teach you how! You will develop basic drawing skills using an approach that combines left and right brain abilities. Most of all, you will thoroughly enjoy yourself in a fun and non-intimidating environment. Great for
beginners and a refresher for all levels.


The Drawing Experience 2 with an Expressive Twist

5 classes / Tuesdays / 2-5 pm
May 8, 15, 22, 29 & June 5

A great new take on our classic Drawing Experience Part 2. If you have some basic drawing skills already, whether it’s from Drawing Experience 1 or some other basic class, you are ready for this one! Joe will teach composition and perspective as the backbone of this course. The “twist” is that he’ll be guiding you in expressive and abstractive techniques, to take your drawing level to a fun, creative, exciting place where you learn to express your own voice!


Discovery! A Very Beginning Drawing Experience

Welcome to our  “Discovery!” series – just for beginners! If you think you can’t draw, if you’ve ever said ‘I can’t even draw a stick figure’, if you are totally convinced no one could ever teach you to draw… this is the class for you!  Joe Mac Kechnie will patiently show you, in a cheerful and non-intimidating environment, how fun and easy drawing can be.  Yes, you CAN draw!
