Shirley Mercer is a locally known watercolorist who brings us many years of instruction experience, especially in her home area of the Washington Peninsula.
One thing that really inspires me is the story behind a scene. Like the old Clallam County Courthouse. I wonder about all the people who’ve passed through it. Were they getting a building permit or marriage license or sorting out legal troubles? So I research, ask questions, talk to folks and learn. And after painting, I leave a little bit of myself in the history of that place.
Painting is a part of me. And painting is forcing me to face who I am and what kind of person I am…and I'm so enjoying the journey. I hope you find as much enjoyment in viewing my work as I find in creating and sharing it with you.
