Description:

If you have already taken Kimberly Adam’s 2-day finger painting workshops and want to go beyond what is offered in the beginning workshops, our Advanced Finger Painting sessions are for you! These 3-day workshops are a deeper dive into Kimberly’s finger-painting techniques, and will help you get to the next level in your finger painting. This class is open to students who have taken one or more of the 2-day finger-painting workshops.

Social Distancing - 1 student per table.jpg

Back by popular demand – another workshop to practice finger painting your favorite animals! Bring 2-3 animal photos and art instructor Kimberly Adams will guide you in bringing your photo to life on your canvas, with loose impressionistic finger painting techniques you’ve learned in the 2-day workshops.

During the three days, Kimberly will be going from student to student, helping you as you work on your own subject. You’ll learn about composition and color placement, and how to add those tricky fine details at the completion of your painting. The workshop will be devoted to completing your own painting, with plenty of guidance from Kimberly to help you get over any obstacles you may encounter.

DAY ONE: Exploring how to plan compositions from an animal/pet photo of your choice. Students will be amazed as they learn how to translate from their photo from concept to canvas as they narrate their painting. No need to rush through this canvas as students who want to take their time or who chose to paint on a larger canvas can continue this painting on day two or three.

DAYS TWO and THREE: Students will have an option to start a new canvas, or add to their canvas created on day one, by adding in additional elements and texture. Applying movement of color that transcends throughout the composition. Students love the third day of the workshop, as the quick results fascinate them while they become more comfortable with their newly acquired skills. At the end of this workshop, students will take home a unique impressionistic animal painting, anxiously waiting to be shared with friends and family.

Kimberly notes that it typically takes her three full days to complete a more detailed painting of a larger size, so the longer 3-day format enables students to paint a larger canvas or paint a more complex composition. You can bring in several photos and canvases, just in case you paint fast, or want to create several smaller animal paintings during the workshop rather than one large one.

The skills you will learn in this Advanced Finger Painting workshop will build confidence in your own painting abilities, so you are enabled to go from "concept to canvas" and create your own finger paintings!

*A note about COVID-19 - We have limited the number of students in this advanced workshop to comply with social distancing guidelines.
