Julia Carpenter has been drawing and painting the human head for 20 years, as well as drawing figures from life. She also loves drawing and painting animals and birds, in both oil and acrylic.
Julia holds a degree in art education from University of Wisconsin, and a master’s degree in painting from Montana State University, Bozeman. She has been teaching drawing and painting to all ages for 15 years, across the United States. Great at teaching all levels of abilities (including a few years as a high school art teacher), her more recent art education roles have been in doing demos and workshops around the country. Since moving to the Seattle area, Julia has taught workshops for Seattle Parks and Recreation and Daniel Smith; she is currently teaching at Kirkland Arts Center and is a professor at the Art Institute of Seattle. We’re excited that Julia has joined our fantastic group of instructors at Cole Art Studio!
