WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: 

Have you always seen the beauty and inspiration in a piece of glass or a shiny metal object, but seem to shy away from them when it comes to putting that piece in a painting?  Would you like to have the confidence to include such things in your work?  This workshop will give you the know how to approach painting chrome, glass, and other shiny objects with just as much confidence as you would anything else. Plus, you'll have a lot of fun!  Jennifer Diehl is well known for her beautiful impressionistic still lifes among her other fabulous work.  She has also become a favorite teacher not only here at Cole Art Studio, but all over the West Coast.  Come, learn from the best and grow your skills!

Please bring one or two pieces of metal or glass from home that inspires you……there will be some provided in class as well

Drawing Supplies:

Sketchbook, pen or pencil (for notes and thumbnails)

Painting Supplies:

*six 8x10 Canvases or canvas boards.

*Odorless Thinner (And obviously some sort of sealable glass or metal container for it as well)

*Flat, long bristle Brushes, sizes: 2,4,6,8, 12 (Filberts are okay, but I prefer to buy flats as they inevitably turn into filberts anyway.)

*Paper Towels

*Neo Megilp (a Gamblin medium)

*plastic grocery bag for garbage

*Portable  Easel

*surgical gloves (can protect you from becoming allergic to your paints)

*Spray bottle of Simple Green (found at any grocery store)

Oil Paints:

*Titanium White

*Hansa Yellow Light

*Cadmium Yellow Medium

*Ochre

*Raw Sienna

*Indian Yellow

*Cadmium Orange Medium

*Cadmium Red

*Quinacridone Magenta

*Burnt Sienna (should be super dark and transparent)

*Burnt Umber

*Raw Umber

*Sap Green (should look super dark when you open up tube)

*Phthalo Green (Ambusson is also acceptable)

*Phthalo Blue

*Cobalt Blue

*Ultramarine Blue

*Ivory Black (Mars black is ok as well)

*Dioxazine Purple

*Manganese Violet
