Ron Stocke

Ron is widely known throughout the United States as a first rate impressionist watercolorist and instructor. From his cityscapes to landscapes and interiors, Ron captures the hum of life in action around him.  Ron’s representational style is both exciting and unique.  Simplifying shapes and exaggerating values, his combinations of lost and found edges separate his work from many others. His skill in drafting, along with his ability to handle the medium of watercolor with fresh and vibrant painterly brush strokes, creates his signature look and is at the heart of his teaching. As an instructor, he is articulate, methodical and generous with his students, providing individual attention to each student, from beginners to advanced.

His artwork has been collected by corporations and individuals throughout United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Ron’s images have been featured in Watercolor Magazine and Splash. Ron is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. He is also a member of the National Watercolor Society and the Puget Sound Group of NW Painters.

Ron received his degree in Graphic Arts and Illustration from JM Perry Technical Art Institute.  He later studied under Chuck Nazz as well as Zoltan Szabo and Alvaro Castagnet.  Ron now teaches others in his own personal sought after style.  His comprehensive workshops can be found all over the world where he also conducts demos and lectures on art materials and green studios.

Ron has said that “no other medium can capture the feeling of a wet surface or the feeling of light better than watercolor.”
