CLASS DESCRIPTION:

What is “Atelier”? So glad you asked!

at-el-ier   /at-uhl-yey/

noun: a workshop or studio, especially of an artist in the fine or decorative arts….The "Atelier method" is a form of fine art instruction modeled after the historic private art studios of Europe. An atelier consists of an artist, usually a professional painter or sculptor, working with a small number of students to train them in art.

Focusing on a different subject for each 4-week session, Angela will teach methods and techniques, tips and tricks during the first 30 minutes, then you will have time to work on a project of your choice – either your own or hers - with guidance from the instructor.

If you miss a session - don’t worry! - subjects will cycle around again in subsequent sessions, with slightly varying concepts and exercises illustrating key points. If you miss one class, you can make it up in another session. Either way, Angela will send home an email summary after each class, listing what was learned that day.

Some of the themes covered in a 4-week session will be Drawing, Color & Color Mixing, Value & Depth, Design & Composition, and Finding Your Voice.  Check Angela's website HERE (or scroll to the link at the bottom) for each month's theme.

Angela will work with you to master various tools and techniques. For example, drawing effectively with grids, measuring sticks and vanishing points. Or how to mix color and choose a palette. How to put together what you will learn about value and color to create rich depth in your artwork. What the rules are, where to follow rules and where to break them!

You’ll use and learn to grow comfortable with varied media: graphite, charcoal, chalk, acrylic, watercolor and oil and more!

This is an excellent workshop to take you from wherever you are, to wherever you want to be in your skills as an artist – with Angela as your Atelier instructor, you will learn to be a pro! And have a blast in your atelier!
