DESCRIPTION:

In this one-day super fun workshop, Tracy will guide you in the process of making beautiful art cards that you can give away this holiday season, or even frame as mini-paintings. Along with making cards, you will be experimenting with the many wonderful additions of gels and pastes that can be mixed into your acrylic paints to create amazing effects. You’ll leave with a stack of gorgeous cards AND you’ll have a whole new batch of techniques to add to your art-making toolbox – all in one day! A win-win!

Here's an idea of the fun stuff you’ll learn while making your cards:

  • How to change the consistency and build texture with gels and pastes that you mix with the pigments.
  • Play and enjoy the process of what all these great bottles of "goo" (gels, grounds and pastes) can do!
  • Develop techniques that appeal to your own personal preferences, so you can express yourself with maximum enjoyment.

During this card-making process, you will learn multiple ways to 'build' a painting in acrylics with the focus on gaining an understanding of the different kinds of gels, grounds and molding pastes available to you. Many effects can be achieved with combinations of these products. Tracy demos every step of the way, so you can see how to handle the both acrylics and the tools.

It is a great way to get started in acrylics even if you have never painted before. And it’s also great for those already using acrylics but would like some new to add more techniques to your 'tool box'. This is a super upbeat and supportive workshop experience.

MY PAINT PALETTE COLORS: (Golden Acrylic Tube colors)
You can bring in Acrylic paints you already have, but I highly recommend professional artists paints. Avoid “cheap” student grade paints! If you are just getting started, my best recommendation is:  Golden Color Theory Set of 8 colors. A perfect set to start with. Required for Color Theory, if you are thinking you might like to take this in the future. (ARTspot also has sets in fluid and mini tubes.)
