Description:
This is a fun, fast-paced workshop featuring a step-by-step process to make two clay creations. In the morning hours, you’ll make a functional mug (or container, or vase…), and after lunch you’ll switch gears and create a unique mask. It’s hands on, right from the start!

Mike will explain the basics of hand-building, and he’ll guide you through from concept to finished pieces. For the morning session, he will provide plenty of unique texture tools and multiple examples of containers to choose from. After mastering the functional piece, Mike will have numerous finished ceramic masks and reference photos to be inspired by for your afternoon creations. He’ll teach you how to construct and texture your mask, and how to add elements that will express your own sense of style.

When you’ve finished, you’ll be able to choose from two glaze colors (green or blue). Mike will take your pieces home to fire, glaze, and then re-fire them, and return them to the studio a week later. When they return we’ll contact you to pick them up.

This workshop is for anyone, whether you have no art background or you are a seasoned artist looking to explore a fun new medium. Come and join the fun!

For the $30 supply fee, the instructor will supply everything you need to complete both projects, including clay, underglazes, clear glaze and two kiln firings. Please bring your supply fee in either cash or check made out to the instructor and give it directly to Mike at the beginning of your workshop.
