Description:
Glowing skies, colorful, wet roads lit up with streetlights and headlights, looming buildings fading off into the atmosphere; these are some of the sights we love in urban artwork. But how to capture this seemingly complex subject can be a mystery. How much detail do we put in?  Do we need to be an expert on “perspective”? All these issues can seem daunting for students who want to paint the city - but David Marty has developed a simple step by step method to help every student have success!

Starting with a basic city scene, each student will follow along with David as he shows how simple the composition can be, using uncomplicated brush stokes to establish buildings, reflected light on roads and even cars.  David will explore the use of soft, fading edges and wet-into-wet paint to give atmosphere and movement in skies and roads, sharing the secrets of creating the amazing glow that David’s paintings are known for.
Some basic experience in oil or acrylic is recommended.
