DESCRIPTION:

Join award-winning watercolor artist and instructor Ron Stocke in this unique approach to painting the important elements in watercolor. Students will learn techniques on how to paint figures that connect to a painting, color harmonies that create mood, and perspective that directs the viewer’s eye.

Great for students from ‘advanced beginners’ and up, this exciting 2-day workshop will encourage you to paint energetic paintings with mood and expressive brushstrokes. Ron says, “Sometimes it’s the small things that separate us as artists.” He will gear this workshop around helping you find your individuality as an artist so that you can succeed moving forward

Paint:

Ron paints with M Graham watercolors - other professional quality brands are acceptable.

  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Yellow Ochre
  • Cad Yellow Lt
  • Cerulean Blue
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Dioxazine Purple
  • Cad Red Lt
  • Sap Green
  • Chinese White
  • Sepia

Specialty Colors: Optional but recommended

  • Maroon Perylene
  • Lavender
  • Azo Orange
  • Cobalt Teal

Brushes:

Large round & Flat brushes: Any large rounds & flats you have, in natural hair or good quality synthetics.

  • Size ranges from 6 - 14 rounds and ½” to 2” flats.
  • Silver Brush, Connoisseur brushes, Princeton all make good quality brushes.

Ron paints with a Large quill size 12, 10, 7 Rounds, 12, 10

Specialty brushes, Optional:

  • ½ - ¾” Dagger, rigger, scrubber

Paper:
Ron prefers Saunders Waterford - other brands are acceptable.

  • Arches, Saunders, Fabriano: 140 lb Cold Press.
  • Each student should have a full sheet per day. You will be encouraged to work on 1/2 sheet size or large W/C Blocks

Other:

  • Support - Ron paints on an easel. Students should bring gator board/painting board to support their paintings.
