Description:
In this two-day class, Kimberly Adams will teach you how to paint a lighthouse seascape with just your (gloved) fingertips! She will share her easy tips on how to mix color directly on the canvas and manipulate the paint into thick texture. You will enjoy the simplicity of this technique and find it refreshing not to use tools or brushes. In addition to painting, Kimberly will put you at ease on deciding when a painting is finished and celebrate the ‘happy accidents’ that occur - as these ‘happy accidents’ so often become the best part of the painting.
 

Day 1 will be going through the basics, learning  how to finger paint as Kimberly demos and takes you step by step in painting a lighthouse. On Day 2,  Kimberly will expand on the  techniques you began learning on Saturday so that you’ll be more equipped to take Kimberly’s advanced workshops.

Canvases:

• 16 x 20 inch: 1-2 canvases *
  *Students can work on just one canvas for the whole weekend, or bring a second one for Day Two.

Paints:
Kimberly will be using Holbein Duo Aqua Oils. Holbein Regular Oil paints can also be used. If you choose to use another brand, the result might be slightly different from Kimberly’s painting; whatever you decide on, they should be artist quality paints. (ARTspot carries Holbein Duo Aqua Oils at 20% off.)

• Horizon Blue (can be substituted with any light blue)
• Yellow Ochre
• Naples Yellow
• Rose Violet or Alizarin Crimson
• Mauve preferably (or, substitute Dioxazine Violet)
• Lavender
• Lilac
• Phthalo green
• Ice Green (can be substituted with Gamblin’s Radiant Green)
• Titanium White

Optional Colors:

• Lemon Yellow
• Phthalo Blue
• Yellow Green
• Veritider Blue
• Turquoise
• Cadmium Yellow

Other:

• Paper towels
• Apron or Paint Shirt. When Kimberly paints, she gets paint everywhere! You might too, so dress appropriately to get messy.
• Something in which to take your paintings home
