Description:
This workshop is great for all levels of artists - including beginners! In this two-day workshop, you will be painting along with artist Kimberly Adams, as she guides students through a step by step instructions for an evening landscape.

On Day One, instructor Kimberly Adams, you will explain how use a split-complementary color scheme using colors found on the opposite side of the color wheel. Students will enjoy learning how balance oranges and greens with violet to create a warm evening landscape of our beloved Edmonds area.  You’ll learn Kimberly’s tips and tricks of using color to capture mood as she guides you step by step in creating your finger painting.

On Day Two, you will continue working on your painting, detailing and adding the final touches to perfect your evening landscape. Students that finish early are welcome to start a second canvas practicing the techniques they learned on the first day.

Canvases, gallery wrapped: one 16x20” canvases (or two if you are fast and able to complete two)

Paints:
Kimberly will be using Holbein Duo Aqua Oils. Holbein and Gamblin regular oil paints can also be used. Some of the colors can be substituted with colors as indicated below; the result might be slightly different from Kimberly’s painting. If students want to use other brands, they should be artist quality paints.

Holbein Duo Aqua Oil Paints:

  • Naples Yellow

  • Cadmium Orange

  • Cadmium Yellow Hue

  • Cadmium Yellow Hue Light

  • Mauve

  • Verditer Blue

  • Horizon Blue

  • Lavender

  • Lilac

  • Yellow Green

  • Phthalo Green

Optional colors:

  • Lemon Yellow

  • Misty Blue (Regular Oil Paint from Holbein)

Other:

  • If you prefer to stand, bring a standing portable easel.

  • Paper towels

  • Apron or Paint Shirt. When Kimberly paints, she gets paint everywhere! You might too, so dress appropriately to get messy.

  • Gloves will be provided by Cole Art Studio
