Description:
Many of you who have taken Kimberly’s finger painting workshops have asked for a workshop specifically for non-beginners. We’ve heard you! This workshop will be a deeper dive into Kimberly’s finger-painting techniques, to help you get to the next level in your finger painting. Kimberly can help you tackle larger canvases if you choose the 3-day option, and everyone will have more one-on- one time, since we are limiting the number of students to 9.

Fall is a wonderful time of the year to explore the use of reds, yellow and oranges as the main colors in a landscape! In this two-day or three-day workshop, Kimberly will explore finger- painting techniques that bring fall foliage onto center stage. She will begin in the usual way, with the overview of what the class will learn for the day, demoing on her canvas, then working side by side with students as they apply the concepts on their own painting.

This workshop is either a 2-day (Saturday-Sunday) OR a 3-day (Sat-Monday) – pick what’s best for you!

  • Those of you who attend the 3rd day will be able to tackle larger canvases, such as 36” x 36” – since it takes Kimberly 3 days to complete a painting of this size.
  • Those choosing a 2-day should consider painting on a slightly smaller canvas, such as 30” x 30”, to be able to complete it in two days.
  •  Of course, if you like smaller paintings, you can choose to paint on 2-3 smaller canvases (such as 16” x 20”) over either 2 or 3 days. You will have ample time to complete and perfect your masterpieces either way.

Day One: Students will paint an autumn landscape with a reference provided by the instructor. Kimberly will lead students on how to choose a composition from a photo, and incorporate it into an impressionistic landscape using only your fingertips (and gloves) to apply and sculpt the paint.

Day Two: Students will take lessons learned from day-one and apply to a photo of an autumn landscape of their choice. Students will have an opportunity to work their compositions with Kimberly on a 9 x 10 panel, before re-creating on a larger canvas. Each student will have time side by side with instructor as they build their landscape. If you are not staying for Day 3, you will receive advice on how to finish the painting at home, if you weren’t able to finish it during the workshop.

Day Three:
As mentioned, this additional day will be ideal for those students who want to learn how to work on and complete a painting on a large canvas. You will receive guidance from beginning to end, with Kimberly’s helpful suggestions for improvements. You will also get the help you need to learn how to put finishing touches on your finger painting, and how to know when it’s “done”.
