Description:
Enjoy a weekend of painting your choice of animals (like cows, sheep, or dogs, for example) or birds (like Robins, vibrantly blue Steller’s Jays, and those knowing creatures we call crows). You can also create landscapes in this two-day class - anything goes!
With Janis as your guide in this weekend workshop, you’ll be using pastel sticks – a terrific medium for the immediate true color laid on the surface paper. Janis has a wonderful ability to capture the spirit of an animal or bird, and she’ll be passing along tips and tricks so that you’ll be painting like a pro, too!
One focus of the workshop will be on the use of color. Learning how to use value, hue, and intensity to create vibrant pastels. The sky can be green, the grass can be blue. It’s all in the use of the color. Pastels open up an exciting way to explore these uses. You'll learn how to set up a composition and your color choices, how to use contrast to the best advantage, how to blend your pastels – these will be some of the things you will learn in this fun workshop.
Some photos will be provided, and you are encouraged to bring your own favorite photos. (Google and/or Pinterest are good sources for photo references.) Remember to print out your choices before you come. You are welcome to bring your iPads and Laptops for your photo source and paint directly from your device.
