Have you ever wanted to try your hand at this cool thing called “Encaustics” – painting with beeswax – without making a big commitment of time and art supply purchases? Here’s your opportunity!  The “Try It!” format is for you! Whitney will show you how to create a wonderful piece of encaustic art of your very own, and in this Friday evening class she will provide all the supplies you need.

Our “Try It!” classes are a great way to try something new-to-you. You can spend an enjoyable evening, maybe even make it a fun time with a friend or a date night, and try out an art form or a different medium – all in just a couple of hours. You don’t even have to spend a bunch of money on a supply list - just $20 straight to the instructor, and you are set!

Texture lends such fascination to a painting, and encaustic is the perfect medium to play with texture! In this class you will explore new ways to create dimension in your pieces. Learn techniques including layered dry-brushing, splatter-loading, elephant skin, combing and more. (Don’t worry if you don’t recognize all the terms…Whitney has developed some of her own.) Discover ways to sculpt your surface and treatments to enhance your textures.
