In this two-day workshop, artist and instructor Shirley Sakatani cheerfully walk you through how to paint colorful poppies in her splashy, fresh style. Great for all levels of students, this workshop will cover color mixing, value, and composition. You'll learn how to paint colorful, light-filled backgrounds, while having fun painting large life-like flowers, built layer upon layer. Each student will go home with a finished painting to cherish.

The workshop includes step by step demos and instruction, laying the groundwork to help each student create a successful painting of bright beautiful poppies, vibrant and full of movement! .

Large Area Flat Brush Pack (includes a 2 and or 3 inch brush)
Palette knife: Metal with scooped neck easiest
Instead of pallets I use plastic plates: TWO x 2 Pack Cooking Concepts 10 Inch White Microwaveable (or more) They are cheap and I use them as covers to palette (I got them at Dollar Tree or Amazon)
Stainless Steel scrubber pads (kitchen sponge) to clean plates
Apron or paint clothes for painting
Stretched white canvas gesso primed (either gallery wrapped deep or regular)
24x24 canvas
Pencils
Water Spray Bottle
Terrycloth bath towel & small cloth for wiping brushes
This is an example of a full 36x48 painting. In class Shirley will guide her students through capturing a much simpler piece.
