Let artist and instructor Shirley Sakatani cheerfully guide you through painting gorgeous, large-scale flowers in her signature splashy, fresh style. From tulips and peonies to dahlias and more, students will select from a variety of floral images that Shirley provides, with personalized instruction on creating vibrant color, rich texture, and strong design.
Perfect for all skill levels, this workshop explores essential techniques including color mixing, value, and composition. You’ll learn how to build luminous backgrounds while bringing bold, lifelike blooms to life.
Each student will leave with a finished painting to cherish.

The workshop includes step by step demos and instruction, laying the groundwork to help each student create a successful painting of flowers, bright, exploding and full of movement! .

Brushes: Synthetic brushes - (Zen series or equivalent)
Zen Series 43 Long Handle Flat Brush SIZE 12 Qty 2

Zen Series 93 (or any) Liner brush for signing or fine detail
Princeton™ Select™ Artiste Series 3750 Short Handle Script Liner Brush
Large Area Flat Brush Pack (includes a 2 and or 3 inch brush)
Palette knife: Metal with scooped neck easiest
Instead of pallets I use plastic plates: TWO x 2 Pack Cooking Concepts 10 Inch White Microwaveable (or more) They are cheap and I use them as covers to palette (I got them at Dollar Tree or Amazon)
Stainless Steel scrubber pads (kitchen sponge) to clean plates
Apron or paint clothes for painting
Stretched white canvas gesso primed (either gallery wrapped deep or regular)
One 18x24, 20x20 or 20x24 canvas
Pencils
Water Spray Bottle
