All Levels Welcome, Including Beginners
All supplies included and everyone goes home with a painting!
Paint a bold, dramatic orca in this fun 3-hour workshop! On an 11” × 14” canvas, you’ll bring one of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic creatures to life using a simple palette of blacks, whites, and cool blues. Learn how to create glowing contrast, rich depth, and that signature glossy, powerful presence rising from dark water.
You’ll explore:
• High-contrast black-and-white painting
• Mixing rich blacks and warm vs. cool whites
• Creating a moody, atmospheric ocean background
• Painting crisp, clean markings like the saddle patch and eye spot
• Adding shine and dimension with wet-on-wet blending
• Designing a dramatic composition that emerges from darkness
Perfect for beginners—and especially great if color feels intimidating. This limited palette makes it easy and exciting to dive in.
In the spirit of friendship and fun, wine, seltzer water, and packaged snacks will be provided. (You are welcome to bring your own contributions, if so moved.)
Location: Cole Art Studio, located in the lower level of Cole Gallery , 107 5th Ave. S., Edmonds, WA 98020.
