Winter in the Pacific Northwest is wet and cool, but the emerging spring fills it with amazing beauty. Let’s get together and fill a sketchbook with the promise of the changing season!

Each week, Kathleen will cover a topic in the studio, and then encourage you to practice what you learn by sketching from observation between classes. Kathleen will also give tips on how to incorporate journaling, quotations, or poetry into your sketches to create a personal celebration of the beauty of the Northwest.

This class is great for beginners or for students who wish to develop their skills. Kathleen is great at working with students of different levels and will make sure each student has the help and challenges appropriate to encourage their own growth.

Sketching Supply List

This is a list of required supplies for class. Specific brands are for reference only; if you have something similar, use that.

Paper

• Watercolor sketchbook 5.5 x 8.5 size, Pentalic brand or equivalent

Pencils & Pens

• Your favorite pencil for sketching, wood or mechanical

• Pencil sharpener

• Pigma Micron Pen – 03 tip, or Fountain Pen with Waterproof Ink

Erasers

• A kneaded eraser

• A white vinyl eraser

• Pen-type eraser- large and/or small

Watercolors Supplies

• Windsor Newton Cotman Travel Watercolor Kit

• Pentel Aqua-Brush medium tip

For Outdoor sketching - Kathleen will share tips on stools and travel chairs during class
